In our work, we champion diverse voices. We celebrate America's rich cultural diversity and tell stories that both highlight and challenge our sense of who we are as Iowans. This is reflected in the shows we air, the stories we tell and the sources we use for those stories, the music we play, the people we interview, and the board and staff who make up IPR.
Iowa Public Radio supports and embraces a diverse full-time, part-time and student staff, comprised of individuals of varied age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, state and national origin, rural and urban origin, veteran status, political views, education, and socioeconomic condition.
Our DEI Plan
Iowa Public Radio established a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan, which includes strategies for:
- increasing the ethnic and racial diversity of staff
- providing pathways to professional growth at IPR
- developing DEI leadership in management, board and staff
- better understanding audience needs
- increasing diversity of voices on our air and online
